It’s important to change your filters regularly to keep your heating and cooling systems running properly. As your filter traps dirt, dust, and particles from the air, filter and appliance efficiency decreases.
The frequency of filter changes depends of the conditions outside and they type of filter you have.
-
Dusty conditions. If you live in a dusty area, or just moved into a new home and the area is still under construction, you may need to change your filter as frequently as every 30 days.
-
Normal conditions. Under normal environmental and living conditions, filter change intervals can range from 1 month (basic fiberglass filter) to 6 months (higher end filter). The recommended interval is listed on the packaging of the filter. Regardless of filter type, you should check it every 2-3 months to make sure it is in good operating condition.
