How to Adjust a Cabinet Door
Keeping your cabinet doors adjusted properly is part of routine home care and maintenance. This guide walks you through how to do it.
What You Need
-
Medium-sized screwdriver. Either a Phillips-head or a flat-head screwdriver depending on your hinge.
-
Step stool. For cabinets hinges that are difficult to reach.
What to Do
-
Locate the door adjustment screws. Cabinet door hinges have 4-way adjustable hinges (in-out-up-down). Locate the door adjustment screws. Important: Do not adjust the screws that attach the hinge to the cabinet frame or to the door.
-
Adjust screws one at a time. Using the trial-and-error method, gently turn each screw one at a time, clockwise and/or counter-clockwise until the cabinet door reaches the desired position.
-
Repeat. If needed, repeat for other hinges on the affected door.
